Anyone identify this botia -please

I have two botias which seem to have REALLY long noses and both a reddish dorsal fins .

Both seem extra active and quite rough at playtime .

None of those though.

They have browny green body and they have stripes AND a reddish tinge on dorsal and tail fins - not forgetting their really distinctive LONG extended snout .

I have a better chance of catchng an alien on Blackpool tower than catching these two on camera

Thanks it looks like they are Syncrossus beaufortis.

Pity as they grow really big.

They are very ACTIVE now and a little bullying .

Only about 3" long at the moment .

Although - possibly - Botia Helodes

i've got 2 of these as well, and they are extremely territorial (you'll hear lots of clicking comin fromt he tank when they fight)
but when i moved them from my 4ft to my 6ft the extra space has calmed this, they dont seem to bother the other fish at all, and on the bottom with them in the 6ft is an assrtment of syno's, clown loaches, skunk loaches, a pakistani loach, a polkdot loach, and various corries and they seem fine.

If it is S. beaufortis, keep an eye on them. They will get very aggressive, especially as they grow. All the Syncrossus species are this way, not ideal for a community tank.
