I got my fuzzy dwarf on friday last week, and as far as I know he hasn't eaten yet. I've tried to feed him frozen silversides and other frozen foods and soft carnivore pellets. I've had car problems otherwise I woulda already been up to the LFS for some saltwater ghost shrimp. Hopefully that'll be fixed today....but getting back to the point he's finally coming out in the open after hiding all weekend and such, but I've noticed he seems to "tumble" around alot in the streams from my powerheads and my canister filters. Is he playing or is he really weak?

My porcupinefish gets fired half way across the tank when he gets in the return flow from my filter.
Your lionfish has a similar body shape, so it may just be that they are much more affected than skinny fish.

Does he swim well otherwise?

as far as I can tell he swims alright, but he's always takin' his time being cool, calm, and collected. My clown and chromis seem to exert more effort swimmin' across the tank, but I know they have gotten some food at least... :*)

From what I've read they are ambush preditors, blending in rather than activly hunting, so I wouldnt be too concerned at this stage.

well I managed to get some ghost shrimp in there. Hopefully he'll eat some soon. I changed 25 or 30g of water last night, hopefully it's not water quality related :*)

Heavy predators such as lion fish are critters of feast and famine, I'm sure that if he was eating at the store he can make it a good while without eating in your tank.

However I think that putting him in with a clown fish and a chromis is a bad idea, they seem like they will be good food for him in the near future.

I bought the chromis as food for later... I had to order my fuzzy online cuz noone had one around here. The place I ordered it from had a $30 minimum purchase requirement. That's why I added the cheap chromis and the clown.

well if u go for the lion again than u need to feed ghost shrimp right away from the get go. Once he gets settled in about a week later than start weaning him on silversides and squid. use a acrylic feeding rod. Also u may want to tone down the powerheads a bit as lions are quite lazy fish. They like to perch alot. Good luck

whoever had the Porcupinefish- it is not a good thing when your fish gets blasted around the tank. U may want to tone it down a little.

"Porky" was moved to another tank a couple of weeks ago. It is a fish only tank for large, slow fish so doesn't have too much in the way of flow - although hopefully enough to prevent algae problems etc.

Anyway, the fast moving current in the other tank is from a external filter return pipe with no attachments on the end - just firing a solid stream. It only caused the fast bit over a small area, there are plenty of quieter areas in the tank, I like to think he enjoyed going in the current as he kept going back for more.

kinda like a rollercoaster huh? Scares the heck out of you but you keep going back. sry bout my comment. I guess i didnt really understand the whole situation.

yeah but you shouldnt have any current that can blow the thing halfway across the tank

Well the pufffer doesnt have to go into the current its a puffer so I'm sure it knows where the currents are and its from the ocean so im sure its species is used to currents millions of times as big and strong, so long as there is somewhere to hang out I see no problems with it at all.
