Right, obviously a breeding Q. This is getting on my nerves right now. I've only got one definately non VT female. I've tried her with Pao, my first choice, and Bai, my second choice, who are her siblings (I wuoldn't normally but I want some PK's out of this). Basically, there seems to be all fighting an no action. Whatsoever. The males keep constantly biting her, she is too light to show stripes but from what I've seen doesn't seem to submit, and they don't want her too. I've left her in for a few days each time, but ended up taking them out because she was so nipped and tired, and neither still showed any signs of breeding. Agewise, they're about 4 months, female seems fairly full of eggs. Any hints?

Are you using any tannins, like blackwater,IAL or the like?
That should,most certainly,help.

Not yet, no, I can't really get hold of that either. I've got peat granules though, I'll try filtering the water through that first.

Hmm, off on a trip 'round the pond then possibly. I'll try the peat and see what happens, then try another male, although I don't have any more with PK geno.... apart from Kieow, but he's a midget

I'd deffinately rest the female first and condition for a further 2weeks then try again and how do you introduce her if you use a floating breeder her hormones will go into the same tank as the males getting him more encouraged for you know what and maybe more hmmm hmmm then biting and other harrassing

^True. also, if they're plakats then you might be in store for a wait. In my experience the plakat just takes longer to hit maturity . I've found that they're the most interested in breeding at around 9+ months. Until then they usually just like to be punky.

But, with that said, I think tannins are still your answer.

I was going to give tham all a rest, see if they grow up a bit more while I rearrange the rest of the bettas into a well organised stacked system (yeah, right). I normally use a cut off cola bottle, I'll try the breeder nwt though. They're not plakats, they just have PK geno (about 50% if I remember) but all three siblings are SD's (as far as I can tell, although Bai isn't likely to be a plakat with his kiler finnage  ). I'll see if I can smuggle in some frozen food, I've been using live but it dies fairly quickly so I end up using tetra delica for the last day or so.
