Anyone Ever Keep Tetraodon Miurus(congo Puffer)

Not kept them, but I do know that they eat fish, both small and large. Small ones they take whole, large ones, they take chunks from. So I'd guess you can't keep anything with them. In captivity they take dead fish as well as mussels, etc. I would assume that they have slow growing teeth compared with other puffers, given their diet, but I'm not sure.

Note that this is a rheophilic species, i.e., one that lives in fast-flowing rivers and streams. It needs a tank with lots of oyxgen, something along the lines of a tank for blockhead cichlids. It is extremely territorial, as well. Doesn't move much, so doesn't need a big tank.

Cheers,

Neale

If your willing to keep only one fish in the tank, go for the puffer if not, go for the eel.

I have had 3 and keep two at the moment. Very aggressive fish and will attack anything in the same tank.
A sand substrate is recommended as they bury themselves.Feed mussel cockle, shrimp, krill etc.
Not generally known to eat snails. They are one of my favourites.

I look after one at work. Basically, don't put them in with anything you want to stay alive. Feed a varied diet. Like the person above said, sand is important. They don't like their nitrates too high. Tank size minimum 20gal. Very sedetory, all they really do is sit about on the floor waiting for their next meal to come along. Cute fish though. I like!

i want one haha, going to start looking around....Eel is going back to LFS this weekend for trade-in on some rainbows....Once i move puffer to 37G home and planted tank to 55G home, I will begin to make the tank for this fish. I love how he burries himself with only eyes on top hehe

yes i am addicted to puffers hehe, the eel although very cool to watch swimming, didnt have the connection i get with puffers. That is why I am trading him in.
