Anyone Breed These Before?

Most tetras breed in soft acid water. Separate the adult males and females for a week and then introduce a pr or group into a tank with soft acid water. Try to put them in the tank in the afternoon. Leave them there overnight and for most of the following day. Have some fine leaved plants in the tank (Java Moss works well). Take the fish out after a day and cover the tank with some paper or material to reduce the light getting into it. Most tetra eggs are sensitive to light. In a few days the eggs will have hatched and you will have fry hanging on the sides of the tank. A few days later they will be free swimming and need feeding on infusoria/ green water.

males are usually brighter yellow and females a little fatter.

Male tetras also have a tiny hook on the anal fin which is used during breeding. Sometimes this gets caught in the net, but often it has been broken off due to being caught so many times.
