I want to know if buying fish is safe and what are the condition of the fish when they arrive?

I'm asking this as I'm thinking of ordering some dwarf rainbows from eBay as I'm finding it hard to get some at my lfs.

I ordered a cleaner crew from aquatics to your door

They arrived the next day perfectly healthy

I was also allowed to choose sexes ;)

I have had them in my tank for approx. 2 weeks with no problems

Be aware though that the fish they post out are very young and very small you may need a holding tank to hand

I looked at that site only problem is very high p&p

think most of them are near enough the same I think

ebay is £15 p&p

JoebW bought dwarf rainbows from an online source.  He had a very good experience with them from what he told me.

I don't remember the site however.  Very good price though, even including shipping.

JoebW ( another member ) bought dwarf rainbowfish dirt cheap online. I think it was like 9 for 12$ or something ridiculous like that. He was very happy with the survival rate which was 100%. :)

Newcastle area lunar jetman. Might have to venture out a little further afield to get what I want.

Its hit and miss with ordering fish online. Usually long as you pick reputable sellers its a non-issue. I also avoid the big commercial sites like liveaquaria as I've never heard anything good about their quality compared to a regular shop. For me to order online it needs to be either too difficult or expensive to get locally. I'm usually looking for harder to find things when I am ordering online since I have a pretty great selection locally. That or I am ordering A LOT. I generally stick to much smaller importers that specialize in uncommon fish. Yes shipping is expensive. Some species can survive priority shipping, but any thing non-hardy or a large shipment should go express which isn't cheap unless you are making up for it in quantity. I still have some wild caught fish I ordered online like 4-5 years ago.
