I've been looking around for some nice plants to put in my tank, but the ones in the pet stores & wal-mart are so expensive compared to how cheap they look. I know that I can find some nice-looking plants at the dollar store that match the decor in my house & compliment Patrick's color, too. However, I don't know if they contain bad chemicals, dyes, or what. Are ones made for aquariums specially treated, or something?

I am not sure about dyes or chemicals, etc in "dry use" fake plants. However, I do know that many of them have metal wires in the stems so you can "pose" the leaves the way you want and such. These would rust and get generally yucky if kept underwater.

Now, like I said, I don't know about any other concerns, but you would have to make sure the plant didn;t have any wires, or go ahead and remove them.
