Never tried it.

0.25ppm ammonia worries me a little, ammonia is a big algae trigger and obviously it's toxicity for fish is well known.

The rest of your water parameters sound ideal, are you heavily planted?

You probably realise it is better to rid the algae's cause otherwise it will return.

Yes, I have 4 swords, 1 anubias nana, 2 crypts, 15-20 corkscrew val, & glossistigma.

The plants seem to be doing well, but there is quite a bit of fuzz algae on the plants.

The ammonia kit has never registered lower than .25, but I would say it is between 0 and .25. When it is that low it is difficult to judge between the color bands.

How long is the tank set up? maybe you need to add some fast growers, you should not be getting ammonia readings if you have enough plants growing in the tank.

The tank is two months old. Note: Phosphate was .05 rather than .5.

I also have a 65W 10000K lamp as part of the lighting. I know that some say this may contribute to algae. Should I change it to a 6500K?

65W too much? I dunno. How big is your aquarium and how long do you have the light going each day (i.e., total photo period, do you have a siesta period built in, do you use a timer, etc.)?

Oops, edit time...36 gallon bowfront. No, 65W isn't too much, but that depends on duration.
