Hi Folks :)

As the topics says anybody tried these, are they any good, etc etc .

Ebay Link

Looking at getting a new tank and I will be trying to keep it as tidy as possible. I have already got a Fluval 304 External Filter to do away with the Internal filter, I also want get rid of the stupid heater which always spoils the look of any tank and I have came across these and they would be perfect but I thought I should ask here first before parting with any cash :)

These normally dont come supplied with a thermostat, so you have no temprature control, a normal heater is a much better idea IMO, in the summer months overheating can be a major problem with these, you could consider a Hydor external heater, although these can be a bit pricey, you need an external filter for these to work, which you have already, as they are attached inline in order to heat the water up. Eheim also do a range of external thermo filters which have heaters included.

Hi ScottishRift,

I have one in my tank!

They are not for heating the tank as they are too low a wattage, they are to be used in conjuction with a normal submersible heaterstat.

They provide a gentle heat for planted substrates which increases nutrient flow around the roots of the plants!

They simply will not heat an aquarium suffciently... ...also as mentioned above they are not thermostated for the reasons I state!

Work great for the plants though! :D
