can u guys tell me info on guppies cause i plan on getting 2 or 3, :D would they do good in a 10gallon tank with a red tail shark, 3 platties, a bronze cory and a painted fish??

some of the things i want to know is what is the right temperature for them, how big will they get, will they get along with my other fish, :hyper: is 2-3 enough, etc.....

Thanx, B)

Kevin :p

they tolerate a wide range of temperature, 65* to 85* F at least, as long as the temperature change is gradual. They grow to about 1" - 1.5" for males, 1.5" - 2" for females. They give birth to live babies, and if you get females, they will breed... most fish eat the babies, including the guppies themselves...
oh, and usually they have 20 to 30 babies at a time.. but one of mine just had over 50....

It would be easier to move the bigger fish. It would be really hard to move all of the fry to another tank. I had some guppies that had fry in my tank with a red-tail, a blue gourami, 3 tetras, and three tiger barbs, and they have all survived to this day - so I would not worry about it.

Get a small 2 1/2 gallon with hood & aerator - my girlfriend got one at wal-mart for $20. Put your guppies in there. When they have fry, just take the parents out and put them in the 10.

but i can get a 10 gallon for 13 bucks..... Canadian dollar, it's a bargain, that's how i got my 10g :D  :p B)

*sigh* I wish I could get a tank for that cheap. I got my 10 for $60.

$60 USA! whoa, is it the whole set including filter, hood, light, etc?
Or is it just the tank.....

Yeah, it included the tank, hood, lights, filter, some fish food - but no heater! Wouldnt ya think! Geez... :p

Just to add my two pence worth,

With guppies make sure you get more females than males ideally a ration of 2:1 otherwise the poor females will be constantly harassed.
