Any Way Of Cleaning Filter Pipes?

I have a second hand Eheim external filter and the pipes leading to and from are full of horrid brown gunk. It is starting to come loose and is clogging the spray bar, and if its small enough to get through the holes, it sprays all over the tank when i turn the filter back on after weekly cleaning

Is there any way of possibly cleaning the pipes to get this crud out? I dont wanna buy new pipes

Ehiem do sell pipe cleaners, it's just a 1m long wire rod with a brush on the end, if the pips are over 2m though you cant clean the middle!

I got mine in a LFS so should not be difficult to get.
