If you feel okay to pm me your address, I can send you the large amazon sword plant I have. It'll be going in the bin otherwise, so not looking for money, just seems a shame to waste it. Will go back through my old posts to double check which variety it is, it's something "rose". Since I'm taking down my 57g tank, the sword is too big for either of my other tanks. Can also throw in some hornwort and any trimmings I might have from other plants by then if you'd like - some frogbit possibly if it's grown in some then?

I can't guarantee algae or snail free though! So no pressure at all to accept.

I can also highly recommend Pro-Shrimp - I was recommended them through this forum and have used them 3-4 times now, no complaints at all! If you search their site for plants, look under "potted plants" to find some that are a big larger and more rooted than the ones in in-vitro cups, and often find some that are pretty cheap too. They seem to update their stock often too.

ETA: I checked my post history and turns out my sword is just called Echinodorus 'rose'. The new leaves are reddish when they first come out, but since my tank is low tech and not special plant lighting either, the larger, old leaves turn out to just be green really. So how red it appears depends on the tank/lights etc. Pic from last year before I pulled it from this 60 L tank since it had definitely outgrown it! lol.

I would love to but I wouldn’t have a clue what to do if I had snails?

There's not a lot to do if you have snails. I have Malaysian trumpet snails (MTS) in my tanks because they turn over the sand, and a couple of my tanks have tiny "pest" ramshorn snails. They help break down organics into mulm, as do MTS, but some don't like them because they don't like the look of them, and because the snail population can explode if the tank is over-fed and under cleaned. Personally I find that useful, as a sign that I need to correct that imbalance.

So a personal choice if you want to risk it. Plants from Pro-Shrimp are snail and algae free, and also shrimp safe, for those with shrimp.

But if you could let me know ASAP please, because I'm halfway through tearing that tank down, and will be throwing plants away soon

As much as the offer is very appreciated, I think I’ll pass :)

Thankyou anyway
Snails are no problem to you.
All you need to do when you get the plant is to do a dip in bleach water for 5 minutes. It won't harm the plant and will see off any snail eggs.
I know this from experience. I'm sure others will testify for that too.

Fine by me, but if you're scared of maybe getting some algae or snails, then there's no point asking for plants from other hobbyists. Anyone cultivating plants specifically to be free from both is already selling them via ebay or similar, and even then, not one can really guarantee they'll be free from both unless the plant has been grown in-vitro - in which case, you're paying extra because it's a real increased cost.

You're better off shopping at ebay and pro-shrimp rather than asking hobbyists for plants.

Another shop I've used is Java Plants

They have a sale on at the moment so they are pot of stock on several items but they will get more in.
