hi all, ive been doing a fair bit of research on shell dweller cichlids and REALLY REALLY would love to set up the tank for them. but im now thinking of other small cichlids for my 60L tank. are there any that live in the rocks caves small holes.
thanks neil.

do you mean cavity brooders or fish that actually stay in the rocks you could try nanochromis parilus
if you just want cavity brooders then any apistogramma as discussed in your other post
there is 1 called the cross dressing dwarf nanochromis transvestitus but its requirments are vastly different to the shell dwellers

cheers, aye something that broods/sleeps in the hole kinda like Lake Malawi cichlids but less agressive and suitable for a 60L tank.

neil.

Neolamprologus multifasciatus, or ocellatus, would both be fine, provided you add escargot shells to the tank for them to dwell in.

Yea i really like the idea of the multi's and im 99% sure i'll be doing a shelly tank :good: but keeping apistogramma gives me more ideas for an good tank layout.
Awell more research to do :fun:  :fun:

ps. would anyone be kind enough to give me some forum/webpage adresses on the keeping apistogramma???

thanks loads neil.

dwarfcichlid.com has everything you need

Julidochromis Dickfeldi (I have 3 in with the Multis) or Julidochromis Transcriptus :good:

Dam i REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY love this forum soo much info and super helpful people!!!!!!!

thanks loads and loads and loads neil

I'm actually really interested in doing this as well. A friend of mine got me into shell dwellers and ever since I have been thinking of doing like a 30gal long tank with a big rock display and setting up a colony. If you go ahead with stocking shell dwellers would you be so kind as to post a little journal on here of your set-up and experiences with them?
