I currently have a 29 gallon tank that's been established for about 2 years now. Only problem I've had was an outbreak of ich that wiped out the entire tank before I could do anything. That was caused by a large snail my son bought from, of all places, PetsMart. That also happened about 3 months after the tank was set up.

Right now I've got 6 Tiger Barbs, 4 Albino Tiger barbs, 1 red eye tetra, 2 penguin fish, and a chinese algae eater.

I plan on returning/giving away the pengiun tetra cause they're getting territorial and harassing the other fish, the chinese algae eater will go once it gets bigger and starts going after the other fish.

I want to add a couple more green tiger barbs, maybe 4 to the mix. I have a biowheel filter, as well as an undergravel filter and it's running on one powerhead.

I do weekly water changes, about 20-25% and the last time I purchased fish (the two Penguins) was about 4 months ago.

Until I get rid of the Penguins, do you all think I'll be overstocking the tank?

I don't think your tank is overstocked. The Red Eyed Tetra is a shoaling fish best kept in groups, I'd be tempted to get more of them then more TB's though.

Odd that the Penguins are causing trouble, I've always found them to be quite docile, indeed, I would have thought they would have been bullied by the TB's.

taking your advice, let's say I do go out and get 2 more red eye tetras and keep all the others, will I have room down the road to get a couple more TB's? If so how many?

Thanks again

I had pengiune fish and they were fine in a group, but when I was left with only 3 they became very aggressive, I think it is a natural instint in them when felling threatened.

I have always found Penguins very peaceful to, we kept a large group a few years back and through one way or another the shoal went down to two or three individuals but I never saw any signs of aggression. :)
