i am going to be geting glass cut at the glass works for makeing a 5 foot long tank it will be 2 foot high and wide as well but then i thort seeing as theres a lot more water in this tank its going to be heavyer then the last one i got a friend to put together so is there any thing i should no about thickness of the glass or some thing thats a must when puting a big tank together

I would possibly suggest using acrylic for a tank of this size.

It is a bit stronger, lighter, but can scratch easily.

This would be better for a large tank like that though. I am not sure of the dimensions you would need though.

5x2x2 is fine in glass. If the OP is in Britain then the cost of an acrylic tank compared to a fairly standard sized 5x2x2 will be somewhat prohibitive.

I would expect to pay no more than £170-180 for a 5x2x2 made especially for me. It might be worht finding the cheapest price you cn get for a tank near you. I find that it is cheaper for me to buy a tank than buy all the bits necessary to make one (glass, tape and sealant) and mine will never look as nice as professionally made tanks.

I would want a DIY 5x2x2 to be well braced and made from 10mm glass.

This glass factory worker and builder of many a tank says 10mm thick, no less. Bracing is a must.
