Maybe it's about to drop? The get lethargic just beforehand. This sort of behaviour is advantageous in the wild - firstly encourages mum to hide and secondly ensures she doesn't have too much of an appetite when the fry are born and need to avoid getting eaten by her :) Having said that, she might also be ill. Ask in the livebearer section - you may want to post some pics as well while you're at it.
 
Yeah,they dont eat near the time that theyre gonna give birth,whereas mine stuff their faces with bloodworm to push the babies out! :hyper:
 
my guppy was full to bursting with babies then i just found her dead one day. no explanation. maybe labour problems.
