any ideas or pictures that any one has for a nice rocky setup for an eel. i am planning on getting an eel soon, I just have to re-arrange my aquarium. right now, I have about 12-15 medium size rocks to make formations for my eel to hide in. Any ideas or pictures of eel tanks would be awesome! thanks

snowflake or birchir
Snowflake eels are a brackish species that require a tank far larger than a 30g, you will need a tank of at least 55g to keep a snowflake eel and must have a knowledge of brackish set ups as they are quite delicate.

Most bichir species will soon outgrow a 30, only Polypterus senegalus which rarely grows over 12" could be kept in a 30 for life. If this is the same tank that has your oscar in then i wouldnt suggest a senegalus as a tankmate as it will soon end up as lunch.

Another eel that could be kept in a 30g is the peacock spiney eel which only grows to around 12" but again these would soon end up as a meal for the oscar.

There are other species of spiney eel that remain small but these are rarely imported so it is unlikely you will find them in your lfs.
