anti-bacterial questions

I have both Melafix and Jungle "Fungus Clear" and was curious if they both kill ALL bacteria, and not just the harmful kind? I'm not keen on an ammonia spike if my fish get bacteria infections.

And I have a Penguin Biowheel 125, should I leave the filter screen out when I use anti-bacterial meds, and if so, then how long?

Is this just a question or do you need to use the meds? I'm not familiar with the Jungle meds but Melafix won't harm the good bacteria. If you have carbon in your filter, then remove it for the course of the meds. You can return it to remove the meds after.

Thanks for the info!

I don't need to treat now, but I have had some bacteria problems in the past, and I think they lingered because I put the filter screen back in too soon.
