would different coloured neon tetras swim together? Ive seen blue, black and green neons and I think it would be very pretty to have some of them if they all swam together in a school.

True schooling is a defensive behaviour only rarely seen in tanks, then in large, very low stocked tanks, with a lot of wide open spaces. If fish feel threatened they school up, not usually the case in a typical tank. For fish to school with other species, they need to be either really scared, in which case you have real problems anyway, or a specialist "sneak fish", one that imitates another.

Neons, Black Neons and Green Neons are not the same species, hence may, form time to time hang out together, but will not school in typical surroundings.
