And I'm so confused. These may all be from the not-so-good LFS batch we got a couple weeks ago. One by one they seem to be dying. My water stats are spot on, nobody else seems ill in any way, so what could it be? This is really gutting.

I put the dying one in the QT tank and dosed with Melafix. He keeps trying to rally, but he may be too far gone. I guess I'll see how he is in the morning. Now there are two other ones still in the 55g that are acting off. I don't want to stress them by putting them in the QT tank just yet. I'll see how they are in the morning as well.

I saw one of them flipping on his side and scraping himself along the sand. A very quick motion, but a couple of times each time. What could that be? I don't see signs of ich, but there might be some fin rot starting.

I just saw a ghost shrimp chasing one of my male guppies. Has everyone just gone mad???

I'm going to bed.

Aww sorry to hear this.

When i first ever bought my tri's i lost 3 in a week,no symptoms has such & never really knew why they died...

It could be a ill batch,my corys flick every so often, but it could be them having a itchy bit or something irritating them,if they do it all the time i would worry, but if its not a regular occurance then i leave them.

Whats the corys barbels like? do them have red gills? could possibly be bacterial infection... what temp is your tank?

I suppose really you should have put them in your QT tank when you got them, then watched for any signs of illness.
If the suspected fin-rot has white marks around the edges, then you'll need to treat them.
I would put any suspected poorly ones in the qt tank, and do daily w/c's to see if theres any improvement on the finrot before adding meds.
I hope the others pull through.

Well, the little guy I put in the QT last night didn't make it. I'm not surprised, but I was hopeful. The others in the big tank all seem fairly good, but I'm going to do a massive water change today with that tank and also the QT.

This isn't something I could have known even if I'd put them in a QT right off the bat. I'd probably have left them there for a few days and transferred them over, and since I got some 3 weeks ago and others a bit over a week ago, this still would have happened.

I hate not being able to do anything!

Thanks for the good thoughts. On the good news side, nobody else seems on the edge of death today. I did about a 75% w/c and hoovered up a huge amount of pleco poo. Could that possibly be the problem? Maybe the trillis are inadvertently ingesting some of the poo? That would make ME sick.
