Hi all,

On friday after work i decided to go out and but my self a siamese fighting fist.

I went to my local fish shop and bought a beautiful royal blue veil tail betta.

Got it home, Floated it, Released it in its own 4 gallon tank, watched him have his first swim in his brand new home then went to bed, When i got up the next morning and looked at him i noticed he had a wierd looking patch on his fin but i went to work anyway, when i got back from work he looked ok again so i thought nothing of the wierd looking patch on his body, So this morning i checked on him again and noticed the wierd patch again and his dorsal fin seemed to be falling off so i went to work and after work i got some fin rot medicine then got home and saw him laying on the bootom of his tank with even more of his dorsal fin missing so i put some of the fin rot medicine in and hoped for the best, i checked on him again at 8:15pm and noticed that he wasnt breathing.

My water is correct as i got the man at the local fish shop to check it for me and he said it was fine

Does anyone know why this might have happened?

Thanx

Chris

 well.. the best scenario that i can come up with was that he already had this disease when you bought him, and the stress of moving to a new home really escalated the bad effects of it. i'd take him back to the petstore (with receipt) and tell them.

I rang them after work and they told me to take a water sample in,

Sorry Munch :byebye:

Sometimes the sickness comes so swiftly you barely have time to react.

Will you be trying again?

Yeah they are ment to die SOMEDAY not 3 days after you buy them :dunno:

I like the Crowntails bettas, some like plakats/imbellis etc..... Others like Halfmoons and Deltas and double tails. They are basically the same except for tail type. All require the same parameters.
Get what you think is cool. As for them dieing on you, look at my threads from earlier this year I thought i was a death sentence to them. I think I bought a series of bad fish to be honest. I went through 3 quickly(in 2 weeks 3 died). Now I have a bunch of bettas I have about 35 bettas now counting my babies. It happened to me , dont give up and hang in there.
