I've seen a lot of posts complaining about PETsMART and how their employees don't know anything. Well, I just went to an lfs, a little privately owned, non-chain exotic fish store. I've been there twice and their workers don't know crap. One guy sold me a dwarf puffer as a community fish and today another guy didn't even know his way around! I kept asking him questions about the fish I was interested in and I had to show him where they were!!! And he knew nothing about puffers except that they nip fins and they're poisonous. It was so weird to know more than him! Neither of the employees asked me what size tank I had or what I had in it. I could have been buying 3 little ember teras to put in a 5gallon with 5 tiger barbs!!! So...if you ever go into a crappy PETsMart, remember not all are like that and not all of the employees are dumb(I just got promoted!), and sometimes...lfs's are just as bad.

Very true...the LFS here sells dyed fish (mixed fruit tetras, glowfish) and the people there know hardly anything. They're all a bunch of teenage girls who I think enjoy playing with the puppies way more than waiting on customers or knowing anything about fish. We don't have a PetSmart but we do have a PetCo where the people are more knowledgeable and they don't sell dyed fish (at least I haven't seen any there yet...)

Luckily I have a very good LFS named Lots o' bubbles. People there know what they're doing because they are fish fanatics themselves.

Well, they were. Now they breed them directly with the gene inserted though the ones they sell you are supposedly sterilized.

Glofish aren't dyed...

They are genetically engineered as eggs
That is still as cruel as being dyed, they still have a shorter life span. Think if you were genetically engeneered to glow when you were an embryo.

Not true about them having a shorter lifespan either, or being more weak. If anything that's the fault of the shipping, not the fish themselves. So much misinformation on glo-fish is out there...

Might be kinda cool... at least i wouldn't have to worry about getting hit by a car when i'm riding a bike at night... or trick or treating.
