well, the entire reason i first got King was because i needed three Bettas for the science project i'm doing (a study, not experiment!) but then Donny died, leaving me with Pierce and King. after a week of wondering i asked my dad to buy me a glass bowl and some gravel, and lo and behold got another Betta. i picked him off the shelf because i needed him and he was the only one who wasn't listless, he stared at me and said, "Pick me up, pay for me, and take me home. Now." so i did.
all the way home i kept calling him my Ugly Fish, since he did look awful. purple-brown body, flat mottled brown tail, stress bars. but he had spunk for someone in a cup. he was moved into the dark bowl, left a while, moved under a lamp, and after some screeching, yelling, whining and searching for the reason why the lamp wasn't working, (apparently i'd plugged the power bar into itself
)) he was put under light and given a mirror (it's my test to see if my Bettas are healthy, if not they get clean, clean water and are fasted for three days)
he came alive! purple brown turned pure dark bronze, brown became red and blue. long draping fins and little crossed ventrals later i find out he's a Five-Star veiltail!
now he needs a name! i certainly can't call him Ugly anymore, but he told me he hasn't got a name. apparently dad just didn't care about naming his babies! unlike Pierce who said (in one breath) "HiI'mPierceTakeMeHomePLEEEASE!" and King who wouldn't tell me his name until i threatened to call him Guy, this little boy just has no name.
he needs one! and unfortunately i used all my names on my Platy fry
