Hi there,

I have a Fluval Tronic 9inch heater in my tank. I started cycling my tank 2 days ago. When I left home for work this morning the heat had reached 28 Degrees celcius. My heater is on full wack. Is this hot enough to promote bacteria growth for the cycling process?

Thanks

Lis

Yes, 28C will be just fine. Good luck with your cycle! :good:

it'll work fine at 28oC. If you can increase it to 30 it'll just be a bit faster. if you can't turn the heater up any higher you can try raising the overall temp in the room that the tanks in which may help. some of the heat from the heater will be escaping into the room outside, the warmer the room is the less heat will escape and therefore more of the energy from the heater will be going into heating the water. That's theoretical though, I don't know how much practical difference it'd make unless you heated your room up quite a lot!
