I lost a cory several weeks ago because it got cut on a rock in the tank and developed an infection: I took the rock out.

This cory launched himself up to get a breath.. may have hit himself on something ... thats all I can figure???? and then swam around the tank really fast, then twitched at the bottom of the tank... he died within the hour. He had been fine immediately before that. My BF watched it happen.

I am very confused about this... everything else in the tank seems to be fine & normal... I wish I understood what happened though? I got some larger cories and they were more expensive this time... and they were good-looking fish too...

This happened with a fish of mine years back. I accidently bumped the tank and the fish jerked, sped around the tank and then up and died :(

Not sure of the cause.

Sorry about your fish.

Alot of folks aren't aware of this but some cories excrete a toxin when they become startled. Sterbai and Haraldshultzi are very prone to this. What type of cories did you have?

I have one bronze cory, and had two corydora julii (leopard cory).. now one and one. Interesting about the toxins, is that at all harmful to other fish?
