Hello, just me asking my 1000th question. I have my betta in a new 5 gallon but the waterfall filter Seems to be too strong even after all of my modifications (putting in sponges, more filter media, filling the water higher). He doesn’t let his fins flare as often and kinda seems to be working harder to get from place to place. I’m thinking of switching to a sponge filter but two problems: 1) just got my tank cycled with the current media and not sure how to transfer it. 2) I know nothing about sponge filters lol and do they affect live plants
Help?

Sponge filters don't affect live plants.
To switch over, I would just put the sponge into the tank, but don't actually turn the sponge filter on. Let the old filter run for about month or two, then you can switch over to the sponge filter.

That’s a good idea. Do you think this one would work? It says for 5-10 gallons. I just hook it up to an air pump right?
