My apple snail is at last eating cucumber, I think he prefers it when it's going off. I heard there isn't much nutritional value in cucumber though. I was thinking of trying things like broccoli, spinach and savoy cabbage. If I bought bags of frozen veg and thawed it out before popping it in the tank would that be any good?

I only have one apple snail and buying a whole cabbage and stuff would just go to waste really.

Hi there :)

Shelled frozen peas are good (warmed briefly).

I've noticed my apple snal has become more active with 'less' feeding.

I now feed my fish as normal, and add a piece of apple, cucmber or romaine lettuce for a day and night, and remove it afterwards.

Are you taking the skin of the cucumber then putting in the microwave for 30sec

My snail eats the skin from tje cucumber (its where all the vitamins etc are), I don't microwave it.

true leaving the skin is a good idea some snails find it better thats why some wont eat it. Putting it in the microwave softens it as snails do not have teeth as such

Yeah tried that and he wouldn't touch it. He only ate it when it was going off and I just washed it and put it in with the skin on. He didn't eat the skin but did eat up the flesh. He's also been eating some fruits too. So all is well now

I just made some snail snacks from a recipe I found on applesnail.net. I wasn't adventurous enough to try the cookies, so I went for the gelatin treats. I used: 1 jar of baby food, 2 tablespoons of fish flakes, 1 tablespoon of crushed Tums, and 1 packet of unflavored gelatin. Let it set for 3 hours and you're set. The snails have swarmed it!
