Hello there,

Please can you help: I have a aggressive zebra danio that I've just put into isolation due to it's aggressive behavior before deciding what do next with it. This is a very new tank set up last week. I have one zebra and one leopard danio that have been chasing each other from day one. Initially the leopard did all the chasing but as of a couple of days ago the zebra started hitting back. They were mainly chasing each other but zebra especially started chasing anything and everything that passed it's way. Everything but the fighter that is, the obvious tank boss. As I say I've just put the zebra into isolation as I was worried for the other fish mainly and have noticed that is has an very extended stomach. Is it sick, or does it want to drop some eggs or something?

What should I do next? All help appreciated

Thanks,
Tanza

I had one like that it was THE BOSS OF THE TANK we called it Jaws chased anything that moved, we notice this morning that it was not as lively as usual staying on the bottom and looking as if it was "Panting" for air, it looked as if it was about to shed a load of eggs, very fat around the rear end. but this afternoon it popped its clogs.
Just managed to remove the body before my BN started to devour the carcase.

24 hours in isolation seems to have calmer her down. She's definitely pregnant though, she looks like the one pictured here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/336393-is-my-glowlight-danio-pregnant/

My guppy's belly is growing too. Going to have lots more fish soon

Thanks, Tanza

Your danios will probably be happier and less aggressive if you have more of them. 2 isn't really considered enough. They seem to be territorial and like to establish a hierarchy. I had five and one that was definitely the boss. But now I've got 6 and she's less grumpy. 6 or more may be the key???

I also had a danio with a very swollen belly. Turned out she had worms and died. So watch out for worms and dose the whole tank if you see any!

Good luck
