Hi All,
Fred Betta was living in our 30 gal community tank, doing well, really enjoying it. On occasion, the angels (1 in particular) would try to nip his caudal fin, but he usually got the upperhand and would flare and posture until the angels backed off. It was not a constant thing (the angels trying to nip him), just every so often. Fred definitely was the head honcho, especially ever since I saw him headbutt into the side of one the angels. They do keep their distance now most of the time...
Oops, got off on a tangent there... Anyway, I noticed a few days ago, Fred did have a small rip in his dorsal fin, then a day later, his caudal fin. Don't know if it's from the angels or all the vigorous swimming he does... So, I put him in a 2.5 gal quarintine tank with Melafix to help his fin or in case it's fin rot...
Thing is, he seems depressed. He won't eat (hasn't in 2 days) and I've been feeding him the same food I give him in the big tank... In the big tank, he was a voracioius eater. What are y'all's thoughts? I was thinking of just keeping him in the 2.5 gal permanently now, but now wondering if after a week of treatment, should he go back in the big tank (i.e. will he be happier there?). He's my first fish , so I want to do what's best by him... Thanks!
Oh, parameters in the big tank are all good (NH3 = 0, NO2 = <0.3, ph 7.2, temp 76F).
