Whats wrong with my angel it is one of a pair in my community tank, they had been getting on fine even breeding together for years. in the last month they have been fighting though. It has all come to a head with the female angel laying on her side on the bottom for days on end. She is breathing fine, and apart from the fact she lying on her side she looks in tip top condition. Water checks have revealed great water conditions and none of the other fish are ill.
Wahts wrong, what can i do? I ahve heard fish can suffer from strokes, could this be it? If so whats next? :-(

Erm, i think they are spawning my friend, my female angel used to turn on her side when she was laying eggs

...if she is spawning don't forget soem nice flat leaves :D

Um.. sorry, but an angelfish lying flat on her side at the bottom of the tank for days on end doesn't sound anything like spawning to me, and I've watched my angels spawn countless times. It sounds like she's outrageously stressed out, which she likely is if her mate's been harassing her for the last month. I honestly have no idea why he'd turn on her that way; angels usually mate for life (or until you separate them). If you have a hospital tank, I'd put her in it with very low lighting or no lights for the first couple of hours and see how she does on her own. Do you know how old she is? It's possible that she's just getting very weak and near her end and the male is instinctively picking on her because she's near death. :( If you're certain that's not the case, have you added or removed anything from the tank lately? Other fish or ornaments of any sort?
