I hope to add both cardinals/neons and angels to my newly cycled tank in the next week or so. I have had these fish together before but that was many years ago. I am not sure if there was any problems initially or not. Any thoughts, suggestions, recent experience, do's and don'ts.

I've read on here that neons are angelfish food, they will eat every last one of them. Cardinals I'm not sure about since they get a bit bigger, but I've heard neons and angelfish are a no no. :/

I have read many accounts of neons being fine with angels and only 2 accounts of them not (minus the roumers).

I think angels and neons are more likely to be ok if the angels are small and grow up with the neons. Cardinals should be fine, I have cardinals with my 4 angels (2 fully grown). They do however, need to be aded to a mature tank.

Neon and cardinal tetras should be added to a tank after it has been well established for about 2 months. This is becuase they are very sensitive to water conditions (ammonia & nitrITEs).

Neons and angelfish should be fine together for awhile, until the they (angelfish) get bigger and the neons stay relatively the same small size. Don't forget angelfish will grow to about 6", while neon tetras will stay to about 1.5". So even they have been growing up together, with the large size of the angelfish, the neons will look very tasty to them. Cardinals will grow to about 2".

The general rule is, any fish that can fit in it's mouth, will.

thanks for the comments folks, they are appreciated. I will wait for a while before adding these fish as the neons\cardinals like a mature system and i want to add them together with the angels being small as well. That will hopefully minimze the loss due to snacking.
