I bought my angels about jus a lil bit less than a week ago and they dont seem too happy... Before i got a light they used to have abit of fun and swim around a bit but since i have got a light they have been very unhappy they have just been hiding in the cave the whole time... What do you think could be the problem? They jus not used to the light yet or something else? :/

From the way your describing it they seem there just a little shy since there in a new enviorment. When I first got my angels they did the same thing they would hide when I would be in the room or when the lights are on and they can see people walk by the tank.

I would say they should warm up in about a week more or so. They are playful little things they will warm up soon. :D

Just to be sure....What are your ammonia readings?
nitrite readings?
nitrate readings?
Ph?
How big is the tank and how many angels?

:)

Well you wont be happy with me for two things lol but its only a 10g tank... The reason why i have them in there is because i had them bought for me... BUT i am setting up my 3ft tank so that will be there new home when its done! The other thing that you wont be happy with me is that i havnt tested the water for Ph or Amonia and that... My dad used to have tropical fish for over 10 years and he said that they will be ok and i wouldnt have to test the water so i took his word for it... Oh and theres two lil angels...

Oh ok....At least your going to have a bigger tank Good.

I still Think its because there new and they will warm up to you. You can go to your LFS they test your water for free (If it is a petsmart or petco). :)

But agian....I think there Ok and need time. :)

Hope This Helped.

Its helped alot! Thanx for your help mate its much appreciated! :D

Hi there. I agree. Sometimes it takes some time. I would check the water too if you have a kit. It couldnt hurt. Some lfs will do one. They may charge a buck or so , but mine doesnt. If its ok then just wait. If not, do a water change. Are they eating? :D Oh yeah. Maybe the light is too bright. Ya never know.

Glad I helped.

Thats A good point fiddlesticks :) ....How much watts are the bulbs do you think AJ86?
A water change might help but I would think that might scare them even more so I would Wait tell A little later when they will come out when the lights are on but if it takes a while for the readings to go down I would do a waterchange.

They are eating whats dropping close to the cave.... The light is a 20W desk lamp do you think that maybe be too bright for a 10g?

Well My 20g is a 15watt bulb so maybe a little bit but not by much....Do they swim around when the lights are off but the room lights on?

Ill probably do a water change soon... My tank evaporates alot so i always top it up every now and then but i guess it might be better to get rid of some of the older water instead of jus the evapouration...

When i turned both lights off and then i turned the room light on to find something i saw they were out of the cave a bit so yea i think they do when the lights are off and they did used to come out when it was jus the room light... Do you think i should adjust the desk lamp so its sitting alot higher up from the water so the brightness isnt so much?

I jus went in and checked them then and they have come out of the cave a bit... Thye are sitting right near the entrance in the light so they might be getting a bit used to it...

when i had an angel he would do that as a baby. eventually he got bigger and became quite a ham. he would see me in the doorway and swim up tot front of the tank waiting for me to come in and feed him. if i didn't feed him he would hover there and stare at me. it got creepy. i eventually gave him away to afriend who had a lrage 50g tank. i had had him in a 10gallon and then learned that this was BAD. even though he was healthy and seemed okay. i had him for over 16 months. he i doing great in my friend's tank, infact has even spawned a few babies. but i miss him. :/

i would do what everyone else has said, get your H2O tested JIC and give them some time. if they are babies a ten gallon might not be too bad anyway, it may make them feel more secure and less stressed until they grow up a little.
