Hello,
Its me again. Learning more and more everyday. I'm happy to report we found a great and knowledgeable and Not-so local fish store (but that's ok) to go to. I found out what the PEtsmart I bought my first round of fish from, sold me what I now know is a "ANGELICUS Botia Loach" He's absolutly gorgeous!!! They sold him to me as an Ornage Seam PLeco, can you beleive that? I didn't think he looked like any pleco I'd ever seen. But I was wondering has anyone had any experience with any of these? Poor thing I was trying to feed him algae wafers, lol. But anyway, and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also has anyone had an Abramite? I just got one of those too, way cool fish!! :D

I have 3 of them( angelicus loaches) in my 60 gallon aquarium. They eat every thing from flakes to brine shirmp and even algea wafers. they are great fish and will grow to about 4 inches amybe slighly larger but not much

Wow, great advice, 4 years ago :p

Last Active 23rd June 2004 lol

They are botia kubotai.

Petsmart is slow on updating their information with the proper name. Care is basically the same as all botia. They eat most foods (snails, bloodworms, blackworms, brine shrimp, pellets, true shrimp, algae wafers, etc.) and grow to about 4-5" on average. Good flow/oygenation is appreciated as are hiding places. They will be much more active in groups. Loners tend to be more timid.

As they grow, they have a noticeable color change. The black will expand from the mid-line, and will close in on the golden sections. Adults have more black with golden spots compared to the juveniles which are golden with black bars. They look good as adults too so don't worry they'll turn drab.

Watch for loaches that stay slim even with good feedings. It is not uncommon for loaches to have internal parasites which need to be treated.

Thing is, when that thread was started, they probably were still being called Botia angelicus!

wow, you're right. they were called angelicus back then

Good old necro-posting. I didn't realize how dead the thread had been.
