Hi all,

I have two angels (don't seem to be a pair, yet get along very well apart from the occasional shimmy at each other) named Goldmember and Dr. Evil. Over the last few weeks we have noticed a weird little growth on Goldmember's right pectoral fin. It seems to be getting bigger and some fleshy bits seem to be protruding out. I would be interested to know what you think of this, is it a normal occurrence? I thought it might be a tumour and that there's probably not much I can do about it. He is a lovely fish and at the moment it doesn't seem to be affecting him with his swimming, but that might not last.

Blurry sorry, but you can see how they 'poke' out

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. :)

Looks like two males to me.

It's not uncommon for angles to come down with tumors. If he is not acting sick I would no anything. Just let him be. He looks really healthy to me I would not worry too much.

How old is he?

He is not even one year old. Got them as coin sized juvies last November. Has grown HUGE though!

I have a male very similar to yours, also the largest I've ever raised, and very recently, he developed a similar growth? at the base of his pectoral fin. When I first noticed it, it looked like a small bloody spot, then healed over ( I thought) into a small pink lump. The fin is now slightly narrowed, also. What's more distressing, is that several days after I thought he'd be okay, a similar pink growth appeared around his anal area, and this mass is growing rapidly with signs of skin and scales deteriorating around it. I first thought of a tumor, but wondered if I was wrong and it is some sort of parasite that could be treated. I have several others in the 90 gallon tank and recently added some youngsters puchased at our local club auction. Sorry, no pics at this time, but the growth is like a thick pink ring around the anal opening. So far, he doesn't seem to feel bad.
I've had the young angels about 3 weeks now, and no signs of illness. Any treatment suggestions?
