just spotted this today. He/she was ok a week ago. I've been on holiday and left my husband to feed the fish but he never notices anything!

I'm not 100% sure that's a tumor as the entire belly is like that rather than just one side. I'm leaning towards egg binding. Is it still eating?

It could be bloated/constipated, so perhaps fast the entire tank for a couple days and see how that goes. If it is egg binding the angel will stop eating, become very lethargic and start to retain water, in which case epsom salt baths can help with that and it can also ease constipation as it acts as a laxative.

My theory is your husband maybe overfed the fish causing the angel to become bloated and constipated. Try a couple epsom salt baths, mix 1 tablespoons per gallon and let the fish soak in there for 10-15 minutes. Don't feed the fish for 2 or 3 days as well. Hopefully it's just a case of constipation and not egg binding nor a tumor.

This link might help you out with epsom salt baths.

We are going away in 2 days on holiday and I started to fear that it would die while we are away and then contaminate the tank but I have had an idea. I remembered I had some aquarium salts in my maintenance cupboard. I also remembered about my vacant 60L tank which I have been running and maintaining since the previous occupants died around a month ago. So I have put some salts in it and added the Angel. That way, if it dies while I'm away it shouldnt affect the other fish. Probably a silly question to some, but if a fish has no partner to make it pregnant can it become egg bound? Are they like chickens that still lay eggs if if they are unfertilised? I have only ever had live-bearers before, I acquired the angel when I bought a tank about 2 years ago

and will leaving it to fast for the week I'm away harm it if its constipation rather than egg binding?
