My angelfish had mouthrot about 6 days ago, i treated it and its mouth has stopped rotting away now... BUT for the past 3 days when i feed the fish it is not eating... its stopped hanging near the surface now and swimming around like b4 but its not eating... Part of its mouth has gone which now looks like half a mouth.. will it grow back? and if not will it b able to feed? I dont want it to die as its my best angel :( ive had fish for 9 yrs and never encountered this disease b4!

Thanks to any1 who replies

I don't know about mouth rot, but since you have angels maybe you can assist me. I have a breeding pair in a 29gl tank, a male in a 55gl tank, and another male in a 75gl tank. I bought them all at the same time about 4 years ago, so they are pretty good size. None of these fish have been in the same tank together in excess of a year. Now all of a sudden all of the males seem to have white pustules popping up on them. None of their tank mates are showing any sign of illness. I treated with a parasite med, but it does not seem to be helping. Any idea?

unfortunetly you guys where right, my angel has died... I dont know how this happened as it didnt have fungus or any signs of mouth rot and then half its mouth had gone and started treatment from there, IF this happens again (i hope not) is there any humane way to end the fish's life as it was cruel seeing it deteriate!

The way I've done it in the past is to simply use three hard whacks to the head. Another way is quick decapitation. Some people come up with all kinds of ideas; dipping them in hot or cold solutions, placing them in a freezer, etc., but I find any of those to be rather cruel and barbaric. A sharp few blows to the head usually suffices, provided you're not limp-wristed while doing it.

Sorry R.I.P.
I would do some daily water changes on your tank.

ye already doing that... tank seems to have gone cloudy strange as never happened b4... all test levels r perfects so dont know y... i dont know if i could kill the lil fish even if it was no hope for them it seems really cruel either way u look at it

You could try clove oil

I think the fish in question is long gone by now, this thread is 15 years old
Ok thanks. Didnt realise but very little comes up for mouthrot in silver dollars. Its all relative . Ive tried a lot of meds. Too many and am worried about the unaffected fish in the tank

start a new thread and post pictures of the fish, along with tank maintenance and history, etc.
