hi,

I have 2 angelfish in a 29gal along with a hatchetfish and 3 bronze cories.

there used to be a lot more fish in the tank but i took them all out and rehomed them a few weeks ago. Now the 2 angelfish are keeping quite still a lot of the time and not swimming very much, although they do swim out around feeding times and eat very hungrily, and they do sometimes seem to hang out in the corner of the tank nearest to the tv.

is it normal for them to stay quite still like this? they swam loads more when there were more fish in the tank which is making me think that perhaps they would prefer a few more fish around to make them feel safer. i am already planning on adding 6 more hatchets and 3 more cories but do i need some midlevel fish too?

I'm aware this might cause me to be a little overstocked again but i have a good eheim 2232 and i could add a juwel 1 if necessary to help with the filtration.

stats all normal, nitrate is now 20 - 40ppm down from about 160ppm when i was hopelessly overstocked (london tap water normal levels 25ppm)

sounds normal to me my angel dont move alot either. As long they r eating thats ok.

hey they should come out a bit but maybe somethings upsetting them like another fish or something in the water qaulitie.

Angels in tanks with less fish are less active. My tanks with pairs in them are usually pretty laid back, except for the occasional lovers quarrel.

thanks guys, good to know that its not too unsual. they're very active around dinner time so i'm presuming that means they're ok for now!
