Hi!
Last night I noticed that my silver (striped) Angelfish (Alone in a 30gal tank) had a rather strange pattern around her "flappy fins" (as my girlfriend calls them!) These being the ones on the side near the bottom, just behind the gills - Sorry I don't know the correct name! It looks as though a 4mm by 3mm section of the scales has come off, there is just shiny "skin" underneath and now her stripes stop outside this "area" there is an exact replication on the other side so is this just her growing?
She isn't behaving abnormally. And the water tests look good:
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
PH 7.8 (Been steady at that for around 5 months)
And all those levels have been around that for at least 4 months. Sorry but I cant get a picture at the moment. The decent digital camera is out of the country with my old man!
She has been eating normally and her diet is varied.
Any Ideas? Is this something I should be worried about or is it part of development?
I am a little worried as I have a blue angel I am due to pick up on Friday (Saturday at the latest, the guy can't hold it for longer) and Don't want to introduce a new fish in to an ill environment.
Many thanks,
Alex
