k, my larger angelfish stopped eating when i got 4 more scissortails. Also the long threadlike fins on the bottom of it have shortened significantly and it seems to have gotten a light red spot on its midsection. It hasn't eaten in days, i think it's going to die. Can anyone help me?

Hi, there is a good chance your scissortails are nipping the angels fins. If they angel is stress out from this that is not good. Angels usually have a long life, can you move your angel to another tank?

bugsy

I agree with bugsy, it sounds like your angel is being pestered. If you can move your angel or the scissortails to another tank, that would be the best idea. If not, you may have to return your scissortails to your LFS for the sake of your angelfish.

well i don't think its the scissortails because i had 2 scissors living w/ the angelfish for a few months w/ no problems. the only fish that seems to bother it is my rb shark and that's only to chase it away from its food on the bottom; its killed fish for less than that. But the angel fish is bigger i thought maybe it has some type of bug :dunno:

i don't have another tank to put them in. should i just take the 4 new scissortails back? Also the other angelfish i have in that tank is just fine the scissortails just don't seem to bother them. but maybe they do i dunno

What exactly do you have in your 10 gal tank?

Goldfish with tetras -_-

If that is what you have in there that is not a good mix at all. Goldfish are coldwater fish and your tetras and platies are tropical fish. I would get rid of the goldfish and put your scissortails in there with the other tetras and platies and do not add anymore this this 10 gal tank.

If you don't want to do that, just sit from a distance and watch your tank with the angel in it for a while. See whom is picking on this angel. Now i also seen that you have two angels in there. I just went through this and you might be too.

I use to breed angels but gave that up a few year ago. I just wanted a nice mixed community tank with 2 angels in this tank as well. What are the chances of getting a pair -_-

Well I unfortuanley got just that, a pair. The male was constantly harrassing the female and after they layed their eggs he was still so aggressive. I could not stand it any longer and took the male to the store as the female is much smaller with the most beautiful veiltail.

So this could be another possibility that you might have a pair and they are doing the mating thing.

I would just watch your tank for a while and just see what is going on.

Keep us posted...bugsy :D
