I just recently bought a 46 gal tank and have stocked it w/ 2 baby angelfish. I was just wondering what are some pretty fishes that would be compatible w/ them.

Most angles are easy going unless they are loved up, taking into account their preferance for softer water i would opt for tetras, not neons though the may well end up as snack food!!!!!!!! why not visit a few well recomended LFS's and see what you like, ask advice and then take it from there .HAPPY FISH KEEPING. :kana:

My angels have rainbows as their companions, and all is going very well. Check out my sig and look for pictures on the web. The bosemani and Irian Red are awesome fish, very colorful and active... not to take away from the turquoise, because they are nice too. I've heard that harlequin rasboras make good companions as well, but personally I'm not much in to rasboras!

Also, I believe the thought that angels need soft water is a myth. My water is gh = 300ppm, which equates to moderately hard, and they're doing well. I've heard from many that they thrive and breed in hard water with high pH. Most fish can adapt to different water conditions as long as they're properly acclimated and the water stats are consistent.

do not include small fish with them, which could get eaten

This may be a myth but I've heard they're bread (along with other cichlids) in fish farms in florida where the water is harder and a higher ph than they prefer in the wild and they get used to that. Of course like I said this may just be a myth.
