hello & good morning.....ish.,.

i've got a 85.8(converted from Litres) gallon tank setup with 12 angelfish, 7 Brichardis & 6 ancistus catfish (i'm translating off the top of my head here)

right... here goes...

I just found out that my Brichardis(think they're called Featherfin in English) are NOT compatible with my Angelfish... so gotta get rid of them....
Now my question is:

What fish go well with Angelfish?

a list perhaps?

i know some tetras, loaches, gouramies go well with 'em... but I really want to set it up with cichlidaes....
i've already got a straight up normal tank with gouramies, B.Splendens, tetraes etc..
so want something a bit more...special!
Hope you can help!!!!

Greetings from Denmark

Martin

:( are we to believe that no fish go with angel fish?? I've never seen such a poor response from the forum

Hi there. I will reply :D If you look at my signature, at the 80g, I have almost complete harmony in my tank. I have removed 2 of the Angelfish, but only for spawning, then they will go back in.

The best compatibility, I believe, is with Festivums and Severums. They all live together in the wild and are close in body shapes and personality.

Does that help??? ;)

I don't know much about angels, Symbiot, but I know about gouramis. :)

It is best not to put them in the same tank as angels because, while they may not bother the angels, the angels will pick on them. It is not a good combination at all.

Hi Inchworm. I have 5 Gouramis (m/f Gold, m/2 f Opaline) and 3 Angels together. No issues with any of them except when the male Gouramis decide to chase the females. I suppose I could have just gotten lucky and have "nice" fish......

Must admit, when I introduced the Gouramis, the Angels followed them around checking them out and did the occassional chase (it was THEIR tank, after all  ). But, after a couple hours, they stopped even paying attention ot the Gouramis. I have had no problems with them together at all and it's been a few months.

Hello Mamaschild. :)

I'm glad to learn your gouramis and angels get along. :D

My response was based on the experience of others who have posted on the forum, not from my own, so I can't cite specific problems. I remember the cases, though, because I usually wind up defending gouramis who are accused of being aggressive. To have them picked on is something that would stick in my mind.

However, I believe that where fish and other living creatures are concerned, there can be exceptions to any rule. It could be that your fish were introduced at the best size, age, etc.

At least now Symbiot will be aware that there could be a potential problem and to take care if he/she deceides to try this combination.

Thanks for the information, Mamaschild.

I just put some blue paradise gouramis (m&f) in my tank with 2 angels that i have had for a long time. They seem to have a made a really good adjustment. Which supprized me since the 2 angels i have killed off the 3rd.
