have a pair of angels in my community tank.
they spawn about 3 times a month.

everytime they spawn the eggs get eaten by the other tank mate within a couple of hours.

If i had the space i woud move the angels to a new tank, but atm there is no more space for a new tank.

i was reading up on removing the eggs and rasing them yourself.

has anyone done this before, and if so was it hard or fairly easy??

thanks

It takes a bit to figure out what works best with your water supply and other variables, such as available tank space. To hatch them, you will need an anti-fungal, such as meth blue. Some people have had luck feeding liqui-fry or first bites or that sort of thing to the fry, bbs works best.

An average spawn is 300 to 500 eggs. You need at least 1/2 gallon per fish to get them to a sellable size. You also will need someone to sell them/give them to. Even if you cull really severely, you will need another 75 gallons or so of tank space to raise a spawn. If you have no room for another tank, this is a problem.

I hatch mine out in a 10 gallon, after 2 weeks they go into a 20 gallon. Every 2 weeks or so they get around double the tank space, eventually taking up 4 20s & a couple of 55s. With the tanks I have I can grow out 1 spawn every 8-12 weeks.
