I have a large gold angelfish that is only using one side fin. I looked and the fin that it is not using isnt damaged, however it is bloody (inflamed) looking right where it meets the body. I also noticed that when it went to eat tonight that it sucked in food and spit it out. Im my experience, whenever my angelfish do that, it means they are not doing well ( all eventually died). There are 5 other angelfish in there and one of them is its mate. It's mate has been overly agressive inthe past couple of days. Should I put a divider in and let it chill out by itself for a week until it looks or acts normal?

sounds like he has finrot if its red and inflamed he mate has obviously attacked him put him on his own for abit or re arrange the tank so they lose dominance

Also, doing small daily water changes can help with minor fin rot problems. If it is looking very bad then you may need to medicate with an anti-bacterial (one that treats fin rot) med.

Do whatever you can to minimise stress to this fish - if that means putting in a tank divider or putting him in a hospital tank to keep him away from the bully, then it might be best for a while to give it a chance to recover, rather than to keep going downhill.

It honesty does not look like fin rot at all. It looks like she might have taken a hit to the fin and its sore and inflamed. Once again the redness is just in part of the fish that controls the fin movement.

Dosent look too bad. Honestly, I would leave it. If you will sleep better at night by medicating, then choose something not very strong( and natural), like Melafix or Pimafix.
