Angel Fish looks like Mick Jagger!

I have 3 Angel fish in my tank and now I think I found out their sex, two males, one female. Well, came home today and checked out the tank and the one Angel Fish is hiding and his mouth is all white and won't close. I'm guessing this is from fighting, but what should I do? And do I need to put another female in the tank and if so, how can I tell female from male?

If you dont get it in a tank by its self the other two will wind up killing it..That is how angels are.I think another word is ssss And that is putting it lightly..

If I put it into a seperate tank, will it heal and close it's lips? Should I get another female for the tank or just put that one in a seperate tank?


Also, how do you tell the difference in male and female angel fish?

That looks just like an angel I saw at the lfs the other day. Never saw anything like that, and I thought it was some kind of deformity!

How did you find out their sex? It's nearly impossible to tell unless they're spawning. On the other hand, the one that allegedly got beaten up on could be the "third wheel". When angels pair up, they get very agressive and want the tank to themselves. If you're thinking the other two are a pair, you should move this one. I wouldn't recommend getting another one.

like heresmike said. you cannot tell the sex of angel fish until they spawn.
Getting another angels will not help it will probably make things worse.
you need to get that angel out of the tank, and treat him.

I agree if you dont get the angel out of the tank they will kill it..And it will only makes things worse to get another angel fish...

Well, unfortunately we were too late. The guy couldn't close his mouth at all all yesterday and today and I woke this morning and he was dead. So I will have a small ceremony for "Socrates" and then bury him in my plants soil (good for the plants).
