I was thinking about getting an anemone but Im not sure its a good idea. I have a 29 gal tank with about 2lb. live rock,40lb.live sand , a damsel, a peppermint shrimp, and a small clownfish. Any one know if its a good idea to have an anemone? The filtration I have is a protein skimmer and a wet dry trickle filter. The tank is about 3mos old.

Sorry to sound negative but the anwer is no

you havent mentioned the type of lighting you have and this is very important for an anemone.
Anemones dont have great survial rates im afraid and they are a risk to put in a tank. They can get sucked into powerheads ans shredded, wander all over the tank and sting anything in their paths (like corals that cant get out the way) they grow large meaning less swimming room for fish and as hosts they are not 100% certain to accept clowns (or should that be the otherway around  )

If its a plain host that you want for some clownfish then i advise the sarcophyton leather mushroom, it wont move, doesnt need as strong lights as the anemons, wont eat fish and is far far less demanding on the beginner than an anemone.

Here is mine... most people dont even realise its not an anemone.

Sadly the maroon died in a powerhead last year but this is a recent photo of my pair of Clowns hosting it also.
