I recently bought a large Sebae (Malu) anemone. It's in great health, good colour good suction, sticky tentacles, feeding well. The clowns have only just decided to move in after a month of it sitting there and them paying no attention to it in the slightest. Same for my bubble tip, which has sat there for 4months intouched (but it's illuminous green and great so no complaints!) anyway..
The clowns are absolutely fascinating with it. Nemo (the largest, the female) took to it first, and won't leave it. When I fee them he darts out and back in again in seconds. The feeding is really cool because of the clowns innate relationship to feed to anemone. He immediately did this and before he ate himself, which was funny. But the anemone didn't like the food the clowns are fed so I fed it some prawn. This was great, because the cleaner shrimp decided he wanted it, and tried to steal it. Well Nemo went berserk and kept fending off the shrimp! I've video'd it because it was very funny. Don't know if I can upload video'd here??
They are amazing to watch anyway, but I did come here with a question! Not just to harp on about my excitement!!
Nemo (the dominant one, and female) won't let Marlin (the male, submissive one) in the anemone, so he just swims nearby. Why is she doing this?? If Marlin goes into the anemone, Nemo quiet aggressively pushes him out!! And it's massive-def big enough for both of them!! Any ideas. Poor Marlin!! (bet you can't guess where I got my names from!!
Anyway here's a picture of Nemo in his anemone!!
