Anemone And Aragonite Sand

I've noticed this morning when I got up.. my anemone was closed.. the lights had yet 2 open... i was really shocked 2 see how small it was! is it normal for them 2 close when its lights are off and the room is dark?

I have aragonite sand I was wondering i've noticed it being more dirty then it once was! does anyone clean the sand bed? or just leave the cleaning crew do there thing? hehe

Depends on the anemone, some close up at night, others do not. Does he do it regularly at night?

As for the sand, I gravel vac mine every time I waterchange. Dont wanna take a chance of detritus buildup.

first time i notice it closed... was worried.. but opens all the time during the day that im sure of! ill check tomorro wmonring!

as for the sand arent you worried u will empty the tank slowly but surely? with the little by little sand the goes down the tube?

Nah, I bought one of those gravel vaccuming attachments for my thin siphon hose. I've just got 1/4" diameter siphon hose attached to a large clear acrylic tube 1" diameter. The pressure in the thick tube is much lower than that of the 1/4" so it sucks up the lightweight detritus but leaves the heavier aragonite
