After starting a thread on writing I had a brainwave and thought I'd see what the mods here thought.

Perhaps we could get a section in the hobbies forum devoted to the critique of people's short stories, paintings, sculptures, etc, etc.

I am not sure how much response such a section would have but it would be interesting to see how even a trial run would go. It would probably need it's own mod to ensure members were tactful in their comments of other member's soul-rendered works (I am sure we can all play nice in regards to this though as art is taking a piece of yourself and displaying it in good faith after all and deserves a certain amount of tact in "constructive criticism". I.E: not just saying "I think it is crap").

Sooooo, what do the mods and william think?

Well, that would be what the arts and crafts section under hobbies is for. You could start a thread asking folks who are interested, to post images of their artwork for critique, see how it goes over. That would keep it centralized so folks could easily check back on it.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure if threads like that were allowed in there or not as I wasn't sure if you guys would class them too close to "general chat" material due to the possibility of flaming, etc. Hence why I thought I'd bring up the question of it's own modded section to help dissolve any possible problems. I also thought by making a critique section it could cover everything hobby related to save the other sections being flooded once they begin to pick up more.

Thanks for filling me in though Mam, much apreciated :)

I think that any constructive thread in the general forum is welcome. Many have been inquiring about various other sections that, as above, could be fitted in under one of the new general headings.

I think that for the time being you could give your thread a shot and 'sorta self moderate it'. All of the mods are trying to peruse these threads and it's going along quite well. If there was a problem we didn't pick up on, a mod could be notified.

My only other comment is that sometimes 'critiquing' could be taken the wrong way and someone might not take constructive criticism that well. However, it might be an interesting thread for those interested in getting feedback on personal works of art. Good luck with it if you start one. SH

I too like constructive criticism so I've started a thread for it and written some guidlines.

If it gets out of hand it will closed but we'll see how it goes.
