Hi all I just took an ammonia reading today using the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals NH3/NH4 test.

The test read 6.0/7.0 the color of the water in the tube was piss yellow!

Is this bad? If so whats the best and safest way to lower it?

Thanks alot.

If you read my article (follow the link in my sig) you will see a list of instructions for getting your tank to cycle faster.

Ok Anna...

I did a 25% water change using tap water that was dechlorinated. I won't feed fish tonight as I normally do and I'll do another 25% change the next day. When should I check Ammonia again?

thanks much...

I recommend you test daily until you get ammonia readings of zero. If you get a particularly high reading you can do two small water changes in a day, rather than one bigger one.

Hi Anna

Well just did my second water change today and looks like the ammonia reading is getting much better. I will test again shortly to see how much lower it went down.
