Hi,I know that there is a pinned thread on about ammonia but a lot of it data back to 05
went to homebase today and all there household ammonia has been recalled!! so I'm now stuck again,
Main question, is jeyes kleen off OK to use??

No idea about Jeyes Kleen Off but check the ingredients see ifs there anything in but ammonia - also if you do get some give it a shake before adding it, if it froths up then it has perfumes in and not safe to use. Any bubbles should disappear immediately of its pure ammonia, just like shaking a bottle of still water.

I managed to get mine from the discount homeware store - the range

It's starting to get harder and harder to grab ammonia from the store now. I hear kleen off works so I'd go with that, Just make sure you know how strong it is :p

The jeyes kleen off is available on eBay and there is a large bold font saying suitable for fishless aquarium cycling.
I'm just trying to be cautious as this is my first tropical aquarium.
I shall order a bottle and let you know how it works.

I noticed it on ebay too awhile back, It should do the job.

Just do a test run in a smaller bucket to find the proper dosing level. I believe the Home Base product is a bit weak.

Thanks,
Steve

If in doubt under dose - leave it an hour or so and then test the ammonia level. Easier to add more than take some out!

I used Jeyes Kleen Off for my cycle. I've never seen it sold in a shop but it's readily available online.
